Privacy policy

The short version: your video is never uploaded, we do not ask you to create an account, and this site itself sets no cookies. This site is paid for by advertising, and the ad networks that serve those ads are third parties that may set their own cookies on your device.

Your video and your audio

Your file is read by your browser and decoded on your own device. It is not sent anywhere. The tool has no server that accepts a video: the site is a set of static files, and the speech-recognition model is downloaded into your browser and runs there. Nothing you transcribe is stored on our side, because there is no "our side" to store it on.

The transcript is produced in your browser's memory. It exists until you close or reload the tab, unless you download it.

What this site stores on your device

Measured on a normal visit: no cookies, no local storage, no session storage, no IndexedDB, no cache storage are created by this site. There is nothing to sign into and no preference that needs remembering, so there is nothing to save.

Your browser may keep its own copy of the page files and of the model files you have downloaded, the same way it caches any website. That cache is on your device and is controlled by your browser settings.

What your browser downloads from other companies

• cdn.jsdelivr.net — serves the speech-recognition library (Transformers.js).
• huggingface.co — serves the model files the first time you use a model. These are large; your browser caches them, so later visits do not download them again.
• static.cloudflareinsights.com — Cloudflare, who host this site, add a small page-view script at the edge. It counts page views. It does not see your video or your transcript.

Requests to those services are made by your browser, so they can see your IP address and your browser's user-agent string, as any web request can.

Advertising

This site is free and is paid for by advertising. Third-party ad networks serve those ads. When ads are live on this site, the network serving them may:

• set cookies or use similar identifiers on your device;
• read your IP address and approximate location derived from it;
• use information about your visits to this and other sites to choose which ads you see.

That activity is carried out by the ad network, not by us. We do not receive your video, your transcript or your identity from them. When an ad network is live on this site, it will be named in this section, with a link to its own privacy policy and to its opt-out page.

You can limit this behaviour through your browser: blocking third-party cookies, using a private window, or installing an ad blocker. Blocking ads does not stop the transcription tool from working — the tool runs entirely on your device and does not depend on ads being shown.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to submit.

Your choices

• You can use the tool with third-party cookies blocked. It will still work.
• You can clear the files your browser cached at any time through your browser's settings.
• You can close the tab to discard a transcript before downloading it.

Changes to this policy

If what the site does changes — for example when a specific ad network goes live, or if analytics beyond page counts are added — this page will be updated and the date below will change.
